Seaton Tramway’s 2012 events going international
Seaton Tramway events for 2012 have a truly international flavour, celebrating national days from countries across the globe including Ireland, Norway, France and Portugal and further flung from East Devon, the USA, Jamaica and Mexico. There will be the sights, sounds and tastes of each country with national dishes being served at the Tramstop Restaurant and staff dressing in traditional costumes and a range of special entertainment.
Seaton Tramway will host some very memorable events between 2-5 June, 2012 to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. And not to be missed is their Weekend Extravaganza on 23 and 24 June, teaming up Seaton’s trams with vintage buses and free unlimited travel on selected South West trains to immerse yourself in transport from a by-gone era, with many beautifully restored vehicles including the launch of Seaton’s Tram 8 in new livery.
There are also special events to celebrate with the family on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Mum travels free and can make her trip extra special with a delicious roast dinner or a cream tea at the Tramstop Restaurant. Dads can fulfil their boyhood dream of being a driver on Father’s Day with a special Driver’s Eye Experience, with tuition from a personal instructor they can take the helm along part of the three mile route, tour the depot and get a souvenir certificate.
There will be a wide variety of activities, visitors and fun over the Easter Weekend and during Spring half term. Then Seaton Tramway gets into full swing during the school summer holidays; from 27 July they plan to “Let the Games Begin” with a week-long celebration of the 2012 London Olympics.
It’s Pirate Day on 3 August, shipmates are invited to step aboard the Seaton Pearl and join in Seaton’s Treasure Hunt.
The Seaton Tram of Terror will run during autumn half term and Santa Specials start from 2 December.
The 2012 schedule also includes special charity days for Marie Curie Daffodil Day on 3 March, Cancer Research Day on 14 August and Pink Day on 19 October for Breast Cancer Awareness. Passengers can travel on special departures for just £1.00 return fare and donate the rest of the usual ticket price to the nominated charity.
