Who we are
Shelley Fletcher – PR & Marketing Consultant
An award winning PR practitioner with more than ten years of experience in marketing and public relations.
Prior to setting up Firegrass Communications Shelley Fletcher worked in PR and marketing roles, both in-house and agency, managing campaigns and projects on a local, regional, national and international level for clients in travel, tourism, event, lifestyle, retail and food and drink sectors.
As well as working with traditional media Shelley is also able to deliver campaigns that make effective use of new media and social media platforms.
Shelley won the Chartered Institute of PR’s award for Outstanding Young Communicator of the Year at the West of England PRide awards in 2008 and was a finalist in the Cornwall Business Awards for Young Business Person of the Year 2009. She was also named in the PR industry’s magazine, PR Week, as one of the top 29 PR practitioners under the age of 29 in the UK in 2009.
Associate: Aren Grimshaw - Social Media Specialist
Social Media Specialist, Aren Grimshaw, has been working in sales and marketing roles for more than 10 years, developing communication strategies on behalf of clients, large and small, in both the public and private sector.
His knowledge of the wider marketing mix enables him to view Social Media within the context of the broader communications and marketing strategy, identifying routes to maximise on the reach and engagement of activity.
Aren regularly presents on Social Media for Business Link across the south west region and is co-founder of the south west's first Social Media network, The Cornwall Social Media Cafe. Key areas of his expertise include Social Media strategy development, consultancy and training, as well as the more practical elements of account set up, integration and management.
Associate: Ryan Martinez - PR & Marketing Specialist
Ryan Martinez is an award-winning PR and marketing professional who has worked at a senior level for more than 10 years. He has a wealth of experience developing public relations and marketing strategies for clients of all sizes, in both the public and private sectors.
A former broadcast journalist, his key areas of knowledge and expertise include developing business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) PR campaigns, media relations, media training, crisis and issues management, community affairs and internal communications.
He has significant experience in travel, legal, insurance, regeneration and technology sectors.
Associate: David Murdock - Media Relations Specialist
Media relations specialist David Murdock has nearly 30 years of experience in communications. A former editor of several south west newspapers, he has unparalleled regional contacts in both the print and broadcast media.
Knowing 'from the inside' how the media work, he is able to offer a uniquely honest and realistic perspective on public relations planning and the press.
He is also an experienced producer and planner of publications, journals, reviews and promotional literature. His areas of interest include the new areas of communication offered by new digital and social media.
Associate: Esther Lochrie – Marketing & Events Specialist
Currently based in London, working on the regeneration of East London following the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Esther has a wealth of experience in media, marketing and communications sectors.
With more than 12 years' experience, ranging from TV production to marketing agencies and from visitor attractions to the public sector, Esther has a proven track record of taking a simple idea and maximising its potential via a range of communication channels.
Esther has experience in developing campaigns that make best use of the full marketing mix. Key areas of expertise include overall marketing strategy, brand development, digital marketing, including websites and film, development of marketing collateral, direct marketing, events and conferences.

Firegrass Communications does not provide in-house website development or design services, we work with specialists in these areas.
Small Business marketing review
For a set fee, Firegrass Communications can visit your business to assess your current level of marketing activity and the potential to do more. Your target markets and target media will be identified and suggestions on promotional material will be provided.
Following the meeting a proposed 12 month calendar of activity and opportunities will be developed for your business, highlighting areas where more can be done to raise the profile of the business in key target markets and media.
The plan is then yours to keep and work from during the year ahead, alternatively Firegrass Communications can deliver the work suggested in the plan as an annual campaign.
Annual campaigns
Marketing and PR are an essential part of business planning. Firegrass Communications can work with your business to develop an annual campaign and PR & Marketing strategy to help grow your business and increase exposure.
A full 12 month plan including media targets will be identified as part of an annual campaign. A range of opportunities will be identified in the plan and Firegrass Communications will deliver the plan, reviewing activity each quarter.

Seaton Tramway, one of Devon’s most popular attractions, is hosting two special bird watching trips during half term week, on Friday 18 and 19 February, from 9am-11.00am.Accompanied by a well respected local birdwatcher, either Ian Waite or Don Cotton, passengers will travel on one of Seaton’s beautifully restored electric trams along the three mile stretch of stunning countryside. The journey will take people through two nature reserves, Seaton Marshes and Colyford Common, next to the River Axe estuary, which plays host to an ever-changing selection of birds through the seasons.
